Alla Prima (Wet-on-Wet)
Alla Prima is an Italian phrase, meaning at first attempt. It is a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint. This technique requires a fast way of working, because the work has to be finished before the first layers have dried. It may also be referred to as ‘direct painting’.
Since I paint each painting in one day, it pushes me creatively to try new things and take risks. This means you’ll find a little bit of everything here – visionary impressionism, abstracts, impressionist landscapes, and flowers.
I don’t make reproductions/prints of my Alla Prima paintings. So, if you purchase one of these for your home, you’ll own a truly unique, one of a kind piece!
